They both want to help themselves to a woman's body, in way or another.





They both only have interest in helping the woman financially (so she can feed her kids) if she's willing to put out or give them what they want.

Both are buying the time-limited use of a woman's reproductive organs. I don't see much difference.





They are just prostitution in different forms.








I also have to ask:





- Is reproductive exploitation any more ethical than sexual exploitation?


- Are sexual predators and reproductive predators (both of whom search for vulnerable women and minor to exploit -- one for sex and one for a baby) any different? Are the couples using surrogacy ';morally or ethically'; any better than a Pervert soliciting sex?
There are some surrogates that don鈥檛 do it for the money but do it because they feel they are giving a couple the baby that they couldn鈥檛 have otherwise. Whether that is carrying the couple鈥檚 biological child or donating her own egg. I wouldn鈥檛 be a surrogate nor use a surrogate but its not for anyone else to judge how someone decideds to go about building their family. I wouldn鈥檛 compare it to paying money for sex. In the far - future there will probably be no need for surrogates because they find some way to grow babies like in giant glass tube in the lab.





Why is all the negative feelings towards surrogacy pointed at the surrogacy baby鈥檚 parents? The surrogate also makes a decision to do it and in most cases they join a surrogacy place where they are matched with a couple/person. They make a choice to be a surrogate. The laws vary from state to state but there are states where you can鈥檛 pay someone to be your surrogate though can pay for their medical bills and heath care while they are pregnant. No ones holding a gun to surrogates head forcing her to be a surrogate. If one is doing it because times are bad that鈥檚 truly too bad but there are other things that can be done other then feeling you have to carry another couples baby or donate your womb and egg for 9months.



It's a lot different.





If a woman wants to pay for sex, and a woman is WILLING, not human trafficking, but is willing to sell sex, then there isn't really much of a problem.


Just another business deal.





Surrogacy, however, brings another life into the equation, and all too often that new life is ignored.





That, to me, is far worse.





Personally, if a woman wants to prostitute herself, and men want her to, I see no problem with it at all.





It is her right to do whatever she wishes with her body, and if men wish to pay, fine.





But in surrogacy, there is little or no regard to the emotional effect that surrogacy will have on the child. There is never anything mentioned about the confusion over motherhood, genes, birth stories etc.
They are only helping themselves- to get a ';baby'; any way they can...and usually, one that has at LEAST 1/2 their dna.





Thats what cracks me up with ap's, whether they adopt the traditional way, or go this route- they ';claim'; dna doesn't matter when their regular adopted kid searches for their birth family, yet they will go as far as to pay some chick to wh%26amp;re out her uterus to give them daddy's little carbon copy. Oh, the hypocrisy indeed.





Baby selling in any way is wrong.

When are you people going to lay off this crap and let it be? it does not concern you.





It concerns couples who want babies but cannot have them themselves.Sure, foster care is available..but when you want to raise a BABY, that isn't an option.





Surrogate mothers put themselves out there for that position.It is not a choice that was on a whim.Pregnancy is serious business.





The fact that you are even comparing the two shows your lack of maturity and open mindedness.
So, when a mother carries a child for her adult daughter who cannot physically carry a child to term, or when a sister or best friend does the same thing, is this the same as prostitution too?





I've heard a lot of women say that they've considered being a surrogate, and think it would be a good thing to do- I've definetly never heard anyone say that about being a prostitute.

I know a surrogate mother--and she didn't do it for the $$ so your black and white statement doesn't apply. And ';helping themselves'; isn't exactly how surrogacy occurs.
Surrogacy and a man paying for sex, are, to me, two very different things.





But, that's just my opinion.
Yeah it's sick. I have a friend who I'm trying to talk out of it. She wants to use it as a way to pay off her wedding. It's no different than prostituting (Excluding MK's case).
