Why do couples relationships tend to break after one comes back from a trip?

I have seen this happen to 3 couples who were in long term relationship (3 year+).. The girl goes on a trip, comes back and things ';feel'; different and they break up.Why do couples relationships tend to break after one comes back from a trip?
I would say their relationship wasn't that good to begin with then. I have been married for 15 years and my husband was deployed for 15 months and we were just fine. He is on another year long deployment right now and I guarantee our relationship will be just fine. The 3 couples you saw this happen to obviously weren't too serious about their relationship.Why do couples relationships tend to break after one comes back from a trip?

maybe the trip is not only to visit places but to visit oneself too...and u can discover interesting part of you before ignored...

cos they meet other guys, meet new people who she finds more interesting, she changes her personality because of where she is...


i would mind if my bf went away for a while, as long as it wasnt longer than 2 months because i couldnt be without him that long. even though he could change, i trust him that he wouldnt and if i keep him caged up he'll just want to leave me anyway.

She probably hooked up with someone on the trip and liked it better than her b/f.
there used to being really happy on the trip then whey get back to real life they cant handle it
You are talking about three couples. You can't draw conclusions from so little data.


And, what's this about ';allowing'; someone else to travel? People in relationships don't own each other. If the relationship can't take any major changes, it must have been weak to begin with. Besides, people don't change all that much. Ask anyone who married someone thinking he/she would change. They don't.
Becuase that time apart from your girlfriend of borfirend or fiance, makes you think. It either makes your relationship stronger, or it breaks your relationship, in a way where you realize there are other girls out there. Or any other various reasons.
It might be that they were used to be together and after a break they realized that there were not in love any more, just used to be together. Or maybe one of the parts fell in love with somebody else.


I would not stop my bf from pursuing something that he wants just for my insecurities. If you love somebody you should want their happiness.
because they have been away from eachother for quite some time without contact on the phone and such.
maybe something happened while she was away or she and or he realized that they have interests else where.
