I heard married couples were getting extra money this year, is that true? Or is that married with kids?

THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS SUPPOSE TO COME IN MID-YEAR TO COUPLES. I HEARD THIS AND WAS JUST WONDERING IF EVERYONE GETS IT OR IF IT ONLY GOES TO CERTAIN PEOPLE.I heard married couples were getting extra money this year, is that true? Or is that married with kids?
The latest info is a rebate between $300 and $1600 depending on whether whether you pay payroll taxes or not. They changed the plan to include everyone. The rebate is supposed to hit sometime around June, after tax season is over.

Children are also included in the rebate, so if you don't pay pay payroll taxes you might still get $300 for the head of household plus $300 for each child.I heard married couples were getting extra money this year, is that true? Or is that married with kids?
The government is going to pass out cash to everyone. It's called ';buying votes!';
There has been TALK about a rebate sometime later this year. At this stage that's all it is: TALK. Congress hasn't even started debating it yet so don't plan on anything until you actually get it in your hand.

Even if you do get something it would be a good idea to stick it in the bank until you file your 2008 return in 2009. The last time that they pulled this stunt is was not a rebate buy an advance refund on the 2001 tax returns filed in 2002. Many folks had to pay some or all of it back!

The ';vote buying'; comment isn't too wide of the mark actually. Just the sort of thing that the current administration would pull, especially as he won't be around for the storm when the truth comes out.
the proposal is $800 per single $1600 couple....President Bush said that in his most recent public address.
It hasn't been passed yet, unfortunately, so we won't see it this year.
