Why do commercials only use straight couples?

I have yet to see a commercial using a gay couple .


I just want to know why they employ straight couples, and ONLY straight couples .Why do commercials only use straight couples?
They have them, but you only see them on like LOGO or MTV or any other progressive networks. Here are a couple';

because contrary to popular belief, American society is still homophobic.
Because there's a lot of close-minded people out there who don't want their children being introduced to the real world, and knowing that gay people actually exist. OH NOES THEM GAYZ ARE GOIN TO HELLZ
In case you hadn't noticed, homosexual or being gay/lesbian is a controversial topic. Everyone doesn't agree with the lifestyle that some choose to live in. So it would behoove television ads to be geared towards what most deem as acceptable. The reason is because if you ran homosexual ads you would have many protesting against it, and you would get a loss of revenue as a result because homosexual promotion just doesn't sell. The television companies would rather do what makes money rather than attempt something that would damage their reputation and sales.
gay couples bring a lot of controversy. I heard of this commercial that stirred up a lot of complaints where the dad was in the kitchen making school lunch for all his kids and he was handing them all there bag when they walked out the door and then another guy came by he gave him his lunch and they kissed each other good bye but the advertising company took it down because so many people had a problem with it. A lot of straight parents don't want there kids seeing gay people on TV because then kids think it's alright and straight parents don't want there kids thinking it alright. If i had a kid i wouldn't want them looking at something gay and thinking they can do it to b/c i'm gone let them know they can't.
Gay doesn't sell.

In my lifetime gay couples or individuals were not included as credible characters in movies or television. That changed. The world is changing but it all takes time.
Because striaght couples are normal.

its more socially acceptable..and im sorry but businesses will do waht makes money...to alot of people seeing gay people is a turn off so in leiu of losing money they stick with what they know sells..
